Hello All, I need a simple, yet elegant, piece of software that allows a laptop to act as the navigational interface with a GPS receiver. The software would display our current position, record and display our track (i.e. bread crumb trail), AND display navigation information to a selected waypoint. Specifically distance, bearing and cross-track error or other custom fields. Ideally this would be done in MapInfo so I can add base layer data as needed, but being in MapInfo is not essential. I've searched the internet and can't find anything simple. Most applications deal with car routing/directions, which I don't need.
We use the large laptop screen in a helicopter for flying to predetermined survey locations where new markers are then dropped. The ability to display our position relative to a waypoint, display navigation data relative to the waypoint AND have the ability to GOTO the next waypoint, all within the software is essential. The pilot and navigator are then looking at the same information, instead of the navigator holding the gps unit and manually hitting the GOTO button. There has got to be something out there. Any ideas would be most welcome. Thanks, -Carl ____________________________________ Carl Schaefer [EMAIL PROTECTED] Northern Associates, Inc.
