MapInfo should definitely open a grid with up to 2^16 rows or 2^16 columns, but I'm
not brave enough to try and create a grid with 2^16 rows _and_ 2^16 columns (ie. 4 x
10^9 cells for a size of 8GB++).

Beyond that you may run into problems depending on the grid format being used,
although MapInfo's grid engine does use 4 byte ints for specifying rows and columns.
And its likely that display (ie. read) performance will be pretty poor as grids get
very large (especially so for mig format).
