That fact is correct....if proxy is enabled then WMS cannot be accessed. This has also been confirmed by MapInfo technical support in Brisbane.
Hopefully, they will have a work around for the next version of MapInfo Professional as currently it is a real limitation.

Peter,
If your Proxy or Firewall requires authentication, the WMS client won't work. It uses whatever setting Internet Explorer has set.
I could be wrong on this next bit, but I understand that it uses a standard HTTP request and uses on TCP Port 80 (if one isn't define in your proxy settings), which you firewall should already be allowing traffic on.

Greetings List,
Does anybody know how I can configure WMS in Mapinfo 7.5 to go through a firewall.
When behind a firewall and I select "File" > "Open WMS" Mapinfo just sits there for what seems like an eternity before coming back with the WMS dialog box.
When not behind a firewall the WMS dialog box comes up in a flash.
Any suggestions ?
