I don't know how extensive your needs, your audience or your budget, but MapLinker by Exa-Min Technologies is a very comprehensive hot-linking engine. It allows user-configurable hot-linking both to and from all manner of third party applications, of which MapInfo is just one (although it is a special one, with comprehensive GIS treatment built into the associated driver).
