if i had that much data, i'd be inclined to find a way to catalog it into separate databases.
not only will this speed up database access, but be less prone to lockouts and corruption. i use MANY back ends for some of my web-based projects for this reason, for instance you can even have one table per database, but link them through queries in a middle-database in which your queries are defined, like stored procedures. i don't know what you mean with hyperlinks. a hyperlink is a *display* thing, NOT a piece of data. -----Original Message----- From: Tim Rood [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, 1 April 2004 7:01 AM To: John Polasky; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: MI-L MS Access... I've experienced an upper limit of 2G with Access where you just can't create tables or add more data. I've also heard from others that that's the limit on size. Good Afternoon Listers- Does anyone out there know of limitations in Access, in terms of maximum database size and maximum number of links/hyperlinks? We're starting to run into problems with a report we're creating (using Access). We don't rely on Access for our daily GIS work, but we were trying to automate a report in Access that pulled from a variety of sources, including MapInfo. It seems like 2 GB could be the limit in Access. Is that true? What about limits on the hyperlinks? If anyone can advise I'd appreciate it!! Thanks. Sincerely, John E.
