Good Morning I have had a problem very much similar to this. every now and then while doing something incredibly simple such as resizing a window or moving a label Mapinfo (v7.0) will "freeze" like it is busy processing. Sometimes this will take about 5 minutes and then un-lock itself somehow, but most times i have to close Mapinfo and start again. Like you I have re-installed, rebooted with no joy. Our IT company is also at a loss - they don't think it is hardware related as it is ONLY Mapinfo affected (I have had a complete PC rebuild and am now working on a completely different machine, but it still does it)
I have had this issue for about 8 months now and have yet to get any closer to a resolution. sorry that i cannot offer any solution - only an assurance that you are not the only one experiencing this. Perhaps someone at Mapinfo has heard of this and knows what is going on...
