Compass Its a metadata system for MapInfo Data. It not only stores metadata about your MapInfo files (in an access db), it also writes it to the TAB files as well. Plus (this is the best bit) you can use it to find and open your desired MapInfo files Spatially and/or by category. Its very easy to setup and use. We run 60 seats of mapinfo and have terra bites of Mapinfo data to manage. Without Compass my life would be a nightmare...... There are utilities for generating standard ANZLIC metadata where a project manager or agency sets up a lot of defaults. They had an Access application that did that, and I believe that Encom's Discover pushes metadata into Access storage. I'm not sure it's 2-way though: it would seem much easier to do data-intensive stuff within Access and push it back to Mapinfo's swathe of loose files (it's the TAB that has the metadata, I believe) in a single operation (MapBasic).
