Hi, Christian!
That's a very common task and I think MapInfo users would be grateful to MapInfo team
for this functionality. But unfortunately only MapBasic will help you. That's the
problem of your programmists. Firstly to find the nearest point on a polyline to your
current point. secondly create two polylines instead of that one - from the polyline
start to this nearest and from this nearest to the last one polyline point.

Subject: MI-L Splitting polylines
Dear list
How can I split polylines automatically if I have a point table and a
polyline table? The points do not lie exactly on the polylines. How could I
do that automatically or do I have it to do manually?
I have tried with "Polyline Split" within MI but got the error message Split
with polyline cutters must form contiguous section polyline. Operation
canceled.
Which tool or function could do that job?
I appreciate any help then I have to split several thousand polylines.
With kind regards
christian
