Hi, I'm been using MapInfo pro for several years, and recently have noticed some strange occurrences.
I'm running Mapinfo 5.0.1 on a windows 2K box. What I'm trying to do is get which counties specific locations are in. So, I open the county tab, open a point file (Name:lat:log) and add to the map, at this point all the points appear correct. I then do an sql select on points within, export as text the query and determine which points didn't fall with a county objects. When I replot these points, I get some strange results. As an example, there are 6 points that map to Gila, AZ and them join with it: "AZXXXXXXXXXX":"MMMMMMMMMMM":-42.8055:50.7305:"Gila":"AZ":"Arizona":"04007" "CADOWNIEVL":"MMMMMMMMMMM":-120.831:39.5598:"Gila":"AZ":"Arizona":"04007" "CAMILLVILLE":"MMMMMMMMMMM":-122.234:40.5624:"Gila":"AZ":"Arizona":"04007" "CAOAKDALE":"MMMMMMMMMMM":-120.849:37.7685:"Gila":"AZ":"Arizona":"04007" "COCHEYENWLLS":"MMMMMMMMMMM":-102.351:38.8179:"Gila":"AZ":"Arizona":"04007" "CTLEBANON":"MMMMMMMMMMM":-72.218:41.6441:"Gila":"AZ":"Arizona":"04007" Now they didn't join the first time with any object, and the first one should be somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic; the -120 points should be in CA, CTLEBANON in CT, and COCHEYENWLLS in CO. Now another strange thing is that these points are at the same location on the map as valid points in the complete file that do join. I'm also finding that 46 of the 49 points with the junk lat/long of AZXXXXXXXXXX are being joined with a state, sometimes the same state, sometimes not. I understand that MI Pro 5.0 was never tested and is not supported on windows 2k, but I would think that this should be ok. Anyone have a clue as to what is happening??
