I had that same problem the other day when working with labels. Somehow,
my problem just went away, came back briefly, and went away again. I
actually posted a thread on it and got some replies:

Sorry, but I don't have much advice to give. It seems to be a common
problem. David Reid mentioned lowering your "hardware acceleration on
your graphics card". I was going to try this, but wasn't sure where to
find the acceleration rate when I looked in the advanced display
settings or what it might also be known as.

Subject: MI-L MI locks up after moving labels, and returning to output
scale view.

Hi,

I am manually moving labels that overlap. When I am fininshed with an
area, I zoom previous to return to my output scale view. Most of the
time, if I save my workspace I am ok, but if I do not save my workspace
after each change in view, the program locks up, and must be stoped with
the Task Manager. Anyone have this problem also? Any ideas on how to
not have to save my workspace after every zoom change?

TIA,

Jesse Wellman
