Looks like a video adapter compatibility problems. When I upgraded to 7.5, I found multiple little problems but a huge lost of performance in 3D windows. I had to change my video card to a new one - Made a world of difference especially with those 3D windows!
I've seen often similar problem with older version of Mapinfo with some video adapters, even panning will display "ghost" part of the map outside the map windows!!! (showing on top of the menus , etc.) You could try first downloading the recent video drivers from the WEB site of the manufacturer of your video adapter... You could also try setting the optimisation of your display adapter to a lesser setting. You would then see, if it resolves your problem, that your video card is the problem... At last, you could try a newer board.... Not a big problem but one that can be annoying. Wondering if anyone else had noticed a change since upgrading to 7.8 ? My PC is the same as I was running 7.5 on.
