MI-L Graduated Thematic Map Question

Hello All,   I’ve checked the archives and found the same question asked a couple of times and one answer. I’m trying to make a graduated thematic map and can only get three gradations.  The one response in the archives said to go to step three of the thematic map making and choose ranges. I don’t have a ranges choice, I only have settings and legend. Neither one allows a range change. How can I get more ranges in the graduated thematic map? Or do I need to do something else?   Thank you for your help! Valerie
