My company has been developing an app for a client, which produces time-series of maps, for automation -- this is our first experience with MapInfo. We're using "Integrated Mapping" from VB, passing in MapBasic calls as needed. The documentation is reasonably accurate in describing what any particular call will do -- but it is woefully lacking in providing the "big picture". For example, there is no systematic discussion of the process by which Layer numbers or Window IDs are assigned and modified.
We have been using a combination of trial-and-error methods, and calls to tech support, every time we need to do anything new. Can anyone recommend a FAQ, or a book, or anywhere else that we might look, so that we can actually figure out and <understand> what goes on inside MapInfo? -- Fletcher James President Levit & James, Inc.
