Philip,
Sounds like someone at sometime, while using automatically generated labels,
manually moved one of those labels. Since then, the table associated with
that label has been packed to elliminate wasted space.

A quick way to test that theory is to open that workspace and from the menu
bar click on [Map]. If the menu item "Clear Custom Labels" is clickable
(black text not grey) then you indeed have a label that was manually
relocated.

To fix it, click on "Clear custom labels", then save the workspace under a
new name until you're satisfied that's all that is wrong, then name the
workspace to it's desired name.

Hth,
David Reid

Subject: MI-L Labels Moving improperly

Group,

I was wondering if this has happened to any of you. We use MapInfo 7.5.
We have 7 users running on a server. We use 1 main point file with over
1600 retail center locations. 3 months ago, I updated the point file,
without asking all users to get out of MapInfo. 2 days later, in many but,
not all workspaces, a retail center label from San Francisco would show up
in the Chicago workspace (Map View) and other locations throughout America.
So, I thought that it was being corrupted because users were in MapInfo at
the time of changes being made to the layer.

I've since updated the point layer at night when no users are accessing
MapInfo. Still, workspaces I just created 5 days ago have the messed up
labels.

All of the workspaces were saved from templates that have been created that
contains all of the U.S. Any suggestions on a cure or reasons this is
happening?
