Hi Paul You might look into a product called Textpad www.textpad.com This editor has been around for a few years and is very stable. In the DOS days there were a few good editors around; however, after Windows became fully established, there was a long period when a quality Windows text editor could not be found. TextPad changed all that. It is totally configurable and extremely powerful. You can open hundreds of files at a time if you had any reason to do so. You can open and edit huge files (I have had 100 mb files in Textpad). The hot-key sequences can be configured to comply with many commercial products... I set them to Microsoft products since I am very familiar with the various Microsoft accelerator keys sequences. Syntax highlighting is available. The list of features is amazing. I'm not sure if you could activate the MapBasic compiler from Textpad but it is a programming editor and I expect that this functionality would be available. You can download a full feature trial version. Registration costs are very reasonable.

Up until now I have been a native Mapbasic user stubling through. I am testing out a couple of text Editors with Syntax Highlighting and Custom Commands to activate the Mapbasic Compiler when required. I would like to know of anyone has any recommendations of this type of software they use.
