I truly appreciate all the responses people have sent me in response to this, and I'm investigating options.
One query, that may be a bit off-topic, but I'd like someones guesses on it, perhaps off-list if that is more appropriate. All of the PPC applications for MI people have sent me come from UK or Australia (with a couple of European options). Many of the applications and uses for MI discussed on this list are from outside the U.S. Why is it that folks in the U.S. aren't making more use of MapInfo? Is it the government mandate for a different product, or is there something else here that I'm unaware of? Thanks. David T.
