Bill, Will, and Tony, The final working projection was: "Albers California Custom (CASIL)", 9, 62, 7, -120, 0, 34, 40.5, 0, -4000000 It worked in UT, and as well as opening the shapefile file directly from the menu with File Open, specifying file type ESRI shapefile, and selecting the projection.
