Ah ha! Tony got the answer! And this works for any shape.

Interestingly enough, when I buffer the region using -2 feet, the
resulting buffer region looks barely different from the original, but the
"centroid" actually appears near the center of the buffer. But even if it
fell on the edge of the buffer, because the buffer is smaller than the
original region, the buffer's centroid is still guaranteed to be inside
the region.

Nice solution! Simple, quick, and it works.
