Hi Mats,

I'm not in disagreement with what you say, and can easily do as you suggest.
But with the recent quite intense focusing on license agreements and their
implicit and explicit terms of use/not-use in the open source scene, I think
it would be beneficial if some official clarfication was to be given on this
and similar issue. E.g., the sample data cannot be redistributed as I
understand it.

Or may we hope, that no issued statements/comments will constitute a silent
acceptance of your (Mats') interpretation ? ;-)

Hi All!

I think this has something to do with certain attributes that can be off
or on in the font file.
This was a later addition to the font spec, and maybe earlier pdf engines
didn't care about it.
The thing is, I think the not-embeddable attribute has been left on, or
inadvertently set in a distant past when it did not matter.
I do not think MapInfo Corp means to block the use of map symbols as it
seems.
The attribute can be removed with a font editor and then all is cool.

Hälsning / Best regards Mats.E

MI-L Font license restrictions (was: MI-L Writing Maps to PDF)

I still think it would be very interesting to know of any licensing
restriction accompanying MapInfo fonts. And whether or not this has
changed
over versions, or whether this is something Adobe introduced in v7 ?
Anyone
with MapInfo that want to comment on this ?

The used fonts in maps / layouts are a vital part of these, without them
the
appeareance degrades significantly. And PDF output from MapInfo is not
some
dubious, shady business by any means, so it's a valid concern that's
raised
here, imho.

Subject: MI-L Writing Maps to PDF

Hi Folks

I have just had Adobe Writer v7 installed onto my PC so I can create maps
to
pdf...

Every time I try to write one, the error message below comes up.

It looks like my map symbols I am using in my thematic (Map Symbols,
Filled
Circle) is Licenced to Mapinfo and I can't write it to PDF. What's that
all
about?
