Did you meet the requirements ?

Requirements for VM 3.1 (Build 3.1.0.008):
1. Vertical Mapper 3.1 requires a copy of Vertical Mapper 3.0 on the machine in
order for the upgrade to run successfully.
2. Vertical mapper 3.1 has been tested for compatibility with MapInfo
Professional 7.5 and 7.8 but is not compatible with any version of MapInfo
Professional less than version 7.0.

Requirements for VM 3.1.1:
VM 3.0 or VM 3.1, only tested on MapInfo Pro 8.0.

After writing the requirements above I tried to install the patch my self.

I got the following error trying to install the VM 3.1.1 patch on a MI Pro 8.0:

---------------------------
Vertical Mapper Patch 3.1.1 - InstallShield Wizard
---------------------------
No Files to patch
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Anyone who has installed the VM 3.1.1 patch successfully ?

Subject: MI-L Reinstalling Vertical Mapper

Hey Mappers,

A perplexing VM problem. I attempted to apply the VM3.1.1 update without
success. The updater managed to discard the older version but failed to
install the new version. I don't recall any errors or warnings until I fired
up MapInfo and got the error that VM was missing and the workspace could not
be completed. This is where things get perplexing....

I tried to reinstall VM but without much luck. Using the VM 3.0 CD the
installation gets 8-9% through then gives the following error message:
Component Mapinfo
FileGroup Mapinfo
File <MapInfoDIR>\
Error The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect

I dug out older versions of VM to try to reinstall and work my way back up.
VM 2.6 gets about 97% installed before tripping with the same error.
VM 2.0does install (I couldn't find the original registration number
but it too
the one for VM3). I didn't attempt any analysis but MapInfo opens with VM in
place without error. Alas, I still couldn't upgrade this to either of the
subsequent versions; both terminate at the same spots during installation.

Does any of this make sense to anyone? Suggestions for getting VM 3 back in
place?

Thanks,
Declan
