Forgive my ignorance, but what happens if you simply re-project the data
to the native raster's projection? I found a tool on directionsmag.com
that can do batch re-projecting, if you have multiple files, and have
found it extremely useful in the past. If you're curious, here's the

Subject: [MI-L] SUM distorted thematic

Hello Everyone,
After hacking into the code, speaking with the gentlemen at MapInfo, and

also a few people from this list (thank you all), I have a few answers
to
the distorted thematic issue. When adding in a raster layer to a map
window, the map window will reset itself to the raster images
projection.
This is what causes the distortion. It is actually not a distortion as
far as the points are concerned, it is a matter of the view. Longitude,
Latitude datum files really cause serious display issues with rasters as

well because they do not points that translate well geographically. If
you know what raster image is registered as, there is a workaround for
generating a map view without getting the distortion.

Set up your map window the way you want it. Add in the raster layer and

turn off the display. Set the map options, display to display in Long,
Lat, and then you can turn the raster layer back on. However, if you
need
to zoom in or out, you will need to turn the display on the raster back
off again.

For whatever reason this worked for me, but you may need to find out
what
your file projections are before you can do anything, as to get a really

good raster projection without a shift, you need to register the layer
in
just the right projection.
