You should be able to open them with the free v7 of JPEG2000/ ECW Viewer
from Earth Resource Mapping. It's downloadable in the usual place. 

I'm not sure how that will translate to opening the .JP2's in MI Pro, though
- I haven't looked lately to see if the ECW DLL designed specifically for
MapInfo Pro has been updated to handle JPEG2000.

The JPEG200/ECW SDK is freely available from ERM but MapInfo Corporation
would need to write the DLL for MapInfo Pro - it's their responsibility (or
at least, not ERM's, AFAIK).
