Hello Cathy,
MapInfo can read the ECW compression
type natively, but to get the ECW headers
out automatically, you will need a plugin
to do so for you. There is a free one
available through the ER Mapper website called
MapImagery: http://www.ermapper.com/downloads/download_view.aspx?PRODUCT_VERSION_ID=64
This will allow MI to pull out
the header information and automatically
create the TAB needed for registration.
I hope that helps you out.

Subject: [MI-L] opening ECW
in mapinfo 8
Hi List
I seem to be having a problem with what
seems like a simple task. I am opening
an .ecw file in mapinfo prof 8.0 and i was
told that .ecw have their registration data
embeded in them. But mapinfo asks me
to register it.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
If so can anyone help me solve this?
Thanks a million
:) cathy
