G'day Nick, This is an issue with Nvidia Graphics card and Mapinfo (see earlier thread re graphics card). We bought 3 new HP boxes with Nvidia graphics cards to run dual 19" lcd monitors.
The problem described is as a result of having the Nvidia Desktop manager enabled and using the settings inside the various windows of the Manager. Even disabling the Nvidia manager still gave performance problems. Apparently it is a known issue with Mapinfo. Solution, after extensive investigation by our IT team and HP IT blokes - we changed the Nvidia card for a Matrox Millennium P650 PCIe 128Mb - end of problem.
