Are these "custom Labels" as in labels in some Map window that were manually
modified, or "custom labels" meaning text objects in the Layout window?

Are you sure that all of the paths in the "open Table" statements at the
beginning of the workspace are relative (i.e. don't begin with a drive
letter)?

Does the portable hard drive come up as the same drive letter on every
computer?

Hope this helps
Spencer

Subject: [MI-L] Losing custom labels in layout when using different
computers

I use MI 8, Win XP, & keep all my data (tables and workspaces) on a portable
hard drive. That way I can use a laptop, or desktop, with the same version
of the program installed, and just work on one dataset.
However I find that if I make a layout, usually with a lot of custom labels,
and try to open the workspace on the second computer, the custom labels
vanish. I have the same printer driver installed on each computer, with the
same setting for the printer in
Options>Preferences>Printer.
Are there any files that contain essential information that I may not be
transferring?
