It is entirely possible that the two datasets are that far off.  A lot of TIGER was compiled from 1:100,000 scale maps, although more accurate data has been injected in some areas.   If you have metadata for the datasets they might be able to give you accuracy information.

If the differences between StreetInfo and TIGER appear systematic, that is, features are shifted by about the same amount in about the same direction, then it's possible that there's a projection issue. In this case, the datum of one of the two datasets could be wrong.

Hope this helps

Spencer

Subject: [MI-L] Variances betwen StreetInfo Data and Tiger Data

I have some applications where I need to load Tiger Data along with the StreetInfo data that we purchased from our MapInfo dealer.

When I compare the two… for example I-25 in Denver in both databases, there is a variance of up to 200 feet (I-25/Tiger Data from I-25 StreetInfo Data).

Is there a projection issue that I’m missing (both are in Long/Lat)

Is there just that much inaccuracy in one or the other?

What am I doing wrong?  Can I correct it (short of redrawing the Tiger Data element that I need…..)

Thanks!
