Feet are the same 12 inches we've been told they have since we were tiny
tadpoles. An International Foot is 39.36/12. If I recall everything
correctly, an International Foot is 30.40856 centimeters while the
"standard" foot is 30.5 centimeters. Anyway, the difference is in the range
of micrometers.
While I'm sticking my neck out, I seem to recall that US Survey Feet are a
fraction of a rod or chain, whatever the surveyors use.
None of these are related to the standard measure of bureacratic
productivity: furlongs per fortnight (or memos per month in the more
progressive agencies.)
