The inch 1.0 inch of the International Foot equals 25.4 millimeters
exactly. However, in the US a slightly
different ratio of 1.0 inch equals 25.40005 millimeters or 1.0
meter equals 39.37 inches.

I was botheree by the same thing. Tracked it down, couldn't rest! The
explanation as told to be by uncle Rehmus or someone, can't remember.

US Foot = 12 inches. US Survey Foot = about 12 inches. Reason:
Surveyers
drag a chain to measure from point to point in some kind of fashion. The
US
Survey Foot accounts for 'chain wear'.

Someone should develop an 'age of chain factor' :^)

Hey, close enough for agriculture?

I think the whole idea qualifies for 'friday humor'
