Dan,
MapData has done a fairly extensive benchmark of TIGER 95 and 97. The 82%
match rate is not a claim it is a results. The benchmark results are on our
web site at www.mapdata.net.
As you said "We see every release (of TIGER) getting better" and TIGER 97
is no exception. We were also surprised about the match rates that were
attained.
I wanted to include Dynamap 2000 in the benchmark. Although GDT never said
no, they just stopped returning my calls.

I have real doubts about TIGER '97. In general, I have doubts about govt.
thoroughness. I'm sure it's better than TIGER '95. We see every release
getting better.
I would like to see a head to head comparison, if you're going to make this
claim.
