I vote for training.
Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to attend any classes until a
year after I started to use MapInfo. I managed to fumble my way through a
major project on my own, but having training would have saved me
considerable time.
Others may disagree but my personal opinion is that MI is not for the faint
of heart.
