Clifford,
Some tricks that might give you an idea of where you stand troubleshooting
this problem:
* If you can connect via SQL*Plus to the Oracle database you know that
the SQL*Net layer works (ODBC is on top of that you could say)
* Try the ODBC test facility to connect to your Oracle DB using the
Intersolv driver but try the Oracle or Microsoft driver as well. If they all
give problems, look at your connect string (in your Oracle release you
should only put the SQL*Net Database Alias there). If this still doesn't
work try reinstalling the Oracle drivers and make sure to overwrite all
dll's (Oracle likes that)
* If that still doesn't work get rid of all you installed, clean your
registry and try all over again (this can become a drag as we have noticed
here)
