Richard:
I've found that the Universal Translator fails when the file's name has
spaces, without giving you a clue. eg. "My file.Dwg" will fail even when
that's a win95 valid name, at least with autocad R14 dwg's. Don't know if
this is your case, or if it will do some good to remove the spaces, but may
be worth a try.
Also, I'm a Mapinfo Authorized partner, and email once in a while to
MapInfo Corp's Tech Support.
Maybe you have a not-so-standard problem or have not been lucky with your
answers, but in my experience, their email response is regularly fast and
accurate, even with not-so-common questions. Yes, sometimes their answer
is "we'll file this as a bug" or "we'll look into it", but they still
reply. Generally speaking, they do a great job.
Maybe you should try to email them at [EMAIL PROTECTED], or try Cindy
Makarowsky, who replies most of my emails, at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
