I've been using MultiEdit for both DOS and win3.1 for several years. They
have evaluation copies of all of DOS, win3.1 and win9x/nt versions available
from their site, no charge.

Advantages:
        > 64K (unlimited)
        syntax highlighting (customizable)
        run compiler from within editor
editor positioned to compiler error lines automatically
edit Delphi and MapBasic with each of their own syntax highlighting
multi-file search and replace with grepping
user customizable function/procedure headers automatically inserted
in text stream
dialog box design within editor for (at least) xBase. Perhaps
customizable for MapBasic?

Remember the first time you saw Turbo Pascal with its built in editor 15
years ago? The luxury of doing everything in one place for a while.
MultiEdit doesn't quite create the thrill that TP did the first time that
you realized that Borland had something there, but, it comes close.

PS. They don't pay me.
