re: MI Geographic Explorer under a Test?

Neil,

We are certainly aware that this initial free release of the Geographic Explorer has
some translation issues relating to preserving attributes in some conversions. Our
architechure (based on our FormatX interface) for adding file format support in an
extensible manner supports attribute transfer, much of which isn't implemented at this
time. Is anyone interested in implementing it? You simply create a FormatX reader
and writer for the format. We have already had five firms/individuals contact us who
are willing to collaborate on the development end of this idea, all of who have
excellent read/write format support for one or many various map file formats that
Geographic Explorer users may want down the road.

Again, we view this initial free release to be simply a starting point.

You can read more about the FormatX interface on our website at
http://www.bluemarblegeo.com

By the way, the level of interest in this idea has proven to be extremely suprising to
us. Several thousand (we will have an exact count next Sunday) copies have been
downloaded in just the last 6 days and we reallly haven't even started serious
promotion/advertising at this point! Many of our own developers/customers (~80,000)
don't even know about the product yet! We have received many email messages from
folks who have downloaded the product. Many thanks for the ideas! Keep them coming.

Thanks,

Jeff.
