If memory serves, I think the thing to do here is to fully specify the filename
when saving a table on the Mac.  For example, rather than typing in "city"
(don't use the quotes), enter "city.tab"  Mac MapInfo will take that to mean,
"make this kosher for a PC" and use PC file extensions.

I haven't seen the spurious data problem.  What version(s)?  # records? columns?
indexes?  What networking voodoo?
