and scroll down: that bit at the bottom about "MapInfo Spatial Extender
Cartridge"
looks like a description of SpatialWare functionality, unleashed as an
Oracle Cartridge.

Still, if MI now supports Oracle's SDO_GEOMETRY and the accompanying linear
quadtree indexes (aaacck), what becomes of SW_GEOMETRY, and the R-trees?
