hello listers:

as somewhat of a MI novice, i have a slight problem (which may turn out to
have an easy solution via your collective expertise)

as part of my master's thesis, i've downloaded and processed usgs dlg data to
MI format, however for some reason, the elevation data aren't recognized as
individual polygons. after adding a column for elevation, i can convert
individual polygons to regions and then fill / color them.

if i have concentric polygons, however, the convert-to-regions action
"removes" any polygons which lie inside the selected converted-to-region
polygon. i need to fill / color a polygon, and then fill / color the next
polygon immediately outside (and therefore encircling) the previous polygon.
is there any way around this?

hope i've explained this well enough. any solutions / comments are greatly
appreciated.

ps. hello jason @westmeath
