Thanks to Russell and Pierre who replied during
the last 24hours.
I feel I should perhaps
clarify my requirement following these replies as the problem is not quite as
simple as their solution would provide for.
The "polyline" I am referring to is a number of
roads - each one over 100km in length with each twist and turn a single segment
- i.e. the polyline is composed of hundreds of segments. The buffers are
required on either side but each side to be a different colour. The width
varies depending upon the scale of the plot.
I can now confirm that the MapLogix demo file available from
the MapInfo FTP site DOES Work! It allows you to split a buffer along a
line drawn down the middle, and then delete (or colour differently each half -
very neat in fact) However it is limited to a polygon (buffer in this case) with
no more than 50 segments in the demo version. I am going to ask tonight
how many segments the full version can handle (and of course the cost for
such a package!)
Isn't it great when someone else has worked out the solution
to your problem before you even found you had a problem!
Thanks again...
