We upgraded that product to the latest version and improved the
loader into MapInfo, and added additional loaders for the other
GIS software packages. You can read more about it at
http://www.ctmap.com/gisnet/catalog/data/cvgmap.htm. This page
shows a MapInfo map of the Anchorage AK area made from the
product, and I think there's a free sample data set of the Panama
area there too. The price has been upgraded also to $2500 (but
that's still about half as expensive as the other world map
product).  I use it myself and it IS very handy for making
1:1,000,000 scale maps of anywhere on earth.
