Hullo All, I have been keeping a close eye on the issue of rotating raster images and the results produced when overlaying vector data. In the coming weeks our local authority are going to begin recording application information off some 160 planning register maps dating back to 1980. We are purchasing an A0 digitiser (perhaps a CalComp) and use MapInfo 4.1 on NT 4. The resultant data will be stored in MapInfo format. The site boundaries will be digitised with one piece of attribute data and an application point will be placed within the boundary with two attributes ... one to link to the site identifier and one which is the planning reference which will provide a link to an Ingres database. . This type of project is new to us and one that I am keen to see that it progresses as smoothly as possible. I see two possibilities at the moment in terms of digitising software ... MapInfo or AutoCAD Map which the council also uses. Basically I am interested in finding out any information on the pro's and con's of using either of the two packages listed above, what kind of error margin (if any) this rotation issue might cause and if there are any document or report available on the web that might illustrate how a similar project was handled by anybody else out there. I know I am being a bit vague about the whole thing but I am essentially trying to cover all my options, soak up as much information available and make this project a success. Any help or direction would be much appreciated Regards, Jason Murphy, GIS Officer, Westmeath County Council, Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from this list, send e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put "unsubscribe MAPINFO-L" in the message body, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
