I am in the middle of a project at the moment so I'll have to be brief
with my response.
recently we have had to map thousands of property parcels in order to
determine boundaries and display management agencies. Our Division of
State lands had been digitizing from planning maps, drawings, tax maps
etc. For reasons that are as of yet still unclear the degree of error
both in mapping and backup data were alarming.
Because the number of acres and the type of habitat are related to how
much funding and what type of funding the degree of error was
unacceptable. We have begun mapping all parcels from actual recorded
deeds using MI and cogoline. We are now looking at a third party
software utility from Taylor Technics Inc. (PropMap) to help expedite
the project and further increase the accuracy.
