This is something we have also struck; MapInfo went on the "go-slow" on one
of our PC's.
This morning however we found the cause of this problem:
The virusscan on the PC scanned "All Files" (so not only "Program Files") on
access, this meant that openining a workspace was very slow because all
files got scanned before display in MapInfo. Same thing happened when
labelling a layer.
We changed the settings on the virusscan to only scan "Program Files" and
the performance of MapInfo on this PC is back to what it was (much faster!).
So if you have a virus scanner running you might want to check the settings!
