Dear fellow MapInfo users,

I have been a MapInfo user since 1996, when I took my first Vector based
GIS course using MapInfo v 3.03 on a Mac IIci. I am currently a student
user of Mapinfo Professional 5.0, as well as Vertical Mapper 2.1.1. The
one major thing which I think needs to be addressed is a spell checker
for the text boxes in MapInfo. Also the text boxes having a limit of
254 characters is far too short for people who wish to keep paragraphs
of data together on a map. In several instances in the past, when
working for the government and the private sector, as well as my honours
thesis in structural geology, I have encountered difficulties in keeping
textual information in a document style which approximates that found in
any map which has large volumes of description about the source data,
it's source, and other attributes of the map.

I hope MapInfo Corp. looks at this issue and addresses it for all of us
who would find a spell checker and enhanced text box length useful.
Corel did it with CorelDRAW, I don't see why MapInfo can't do it with
MapInfo.

The best option may be to add a link to the users word processor (Word,
Wordperfect, Word Pro), so that all the custom dictionaries that the
user has set up for his or her specific profession are easily spell
checked in MapInfo. I don't see this as major a programming challenge
as creating an entire spell checker and associated dictionary.

Just a thought, anybody agree with me?

Stan
