Actually, for viewing time series data, I prefer to output the MapInfo
screens to image files, then combine them all into an animated GIF.
An undocumented yet useful feature in MapInfo is that the dot density
thematic routine uses a seeded randomizer. This allows you to use the
animated GIF approach, and actual dots will either appear or disappear with
changes in values (rather than just a bunch of dots jumping around if it
were simple randomization).
