But when a user selects a zoom and pan tools there is no need #not# to get
rid of the snap parameter. Indeed the zoom in and zoom out functions don't
disable snap, but pan does. So there is inconsistency abound here. And it
must be purged one way or the other. (if the new tool does not tally with
snap logically it can always be removed for that purpose and reinstated
afterwards. I do have to press S an awful lot, and yes, compared to all the
problems in the world its about as petty as you can get but it still bugs me
and a causes me slight wrist tension in my left arm)

I like the idea of being able to zoom on the fly, good old plus and minus
keys could be configured for that.
