Hi Peter

We developed a shareware utility "Distance Marker" that should do exactly
the task you have at hand.

Distance Marker will place points along a line at a predefined distance.
The start line end is indicated by the user with the mouse click, and hence
is not restricted by the line direction.
Either a single point or multiple points are placed equidistant from the
user defined start point..
There is a Preferences menu where the user can set:

Distance, unit of measure, point symbol and tolerance for joining
unconnected sections.

The tool can handle line, polyline and multiple section polylines.
Where a polyline has multiple sections, no effort is made to "join"
unconnected sections where
they lie outside of the tolerance distance.

It is available for download from the MapInfo-L ftp site.
