Hi,

for the Arctic some basic coverages are available from http://www.grida.no/amap/unrestr/gis/. They are in ArcInfo export format, but can be converted to MI with a moderate effort.

Subject: MI WAPHGIS: GIS data for Antartica and N polar region

Dear GISers:  For some climate and health studies that are going on, some of us are looking for some basic coverages of Antarctica and the N Polar region, mostly to be used for mapping in a publication. Any ideas? Free of course. I have seen the projections noted in the GIS package I use most, but any better than another for display? cautions, etc.?
