David,
I think you'll always run into trouble here unless you do one of two things:
1. You could add a node to the line where the intersect point is.
2. Instead of creating an intersect point, create an intersect line,
perpendicular to the line you're trying to intersect.
This is not to say there aren't other solutions. I'm sure others will have
some creative ones. I think, if I could though, I'd try the first method.
It's probably the most sure way to do it.
Good luck,

Subject: MI Precision in MapX
Hi, can anyone out there answer the following question??
I am using MapX to perform some editing - and in fact calculate the where a
point (mouse-click) should intersect a given line feature. I am able to
calculate the intersect of this line. However, when I zoom into the map to
about 1 meter, the point of intersection does not fall on the line feature.
I can only conclude this is to do with MapInfo's Precision , calculations.
I try resetting the bounds of the numeric coordinate system (I'm using BNG
by the way, and the distance is in meters). This is to no avail. The
point of intersection is less than a meter out. The problem is that when
displayed at close range the point of intersection is out, and if I test for
an intersection of any feature within the area of the point of intersection
then obviously it fails.
Can anyone help me with this as this has not only been an issue in MapX but
also in MapInfo as well. This would help me a great deal. Has anybody
found similar problems and got a solution or could suggest one???
Thanks.
