Thanks Jeff - the first option was indeed my solution in the past - when I
didnt mind changing the base data.  However, this is not possible now.  I
may have to try the second option.  

On further investigation it seems the fact that I'm storing data in Oracle8i
may also cause error as well especially as to the precision stored in the
database as compared to the display/ numeric coordsys being used by the map.

I think this is one for whoever may have come across this, some one at
MapInfo perhaps??
