Ah yes, that was my other question: you refer to processed_a, but I can't find a file of that name. Where did you get it? The ABA polygons are expected, since mapnik can render them (you get a line). The nested polygon shouldn't happen and ring-self intersections shouldn't happen anywhere where the coastline doesn't show errors...
